North East Ambulance Service

NHS Foundation Trust

The North East Ambulance Service provides a number of NHS services, and covers the counties of County Durham, Northumberland, and Tyne and Wear, along with the boroughs of Darlington, Harlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees. NEAS employ more than 2,000 staff and respond to over 360,000 emergency and urgent incidents per annum. Their fleet of more than 500 vehicals clock-up close to 10 million miles per year.

The North East Ambulance Service had recently purchased 16 brand new ambulances. The vehicles were a new model imported from Germany and were the first of its kind to come to the UK. NEAS were thrilled with their new purchase which will be gradually phased in to replace the existing fleet. The client wanted to showcase their new type of ambulance to the public and allow web viewers to take an interactive view of the interior of an ambulance.

Our photographer then travelled to the NEAS headquaters in Newcastle and took panoramas of the inside of the new type of ambulance. The virtual tour allows viewers to interactivly pan around the ambulance and explore the expert equiptment used from day to day. There are over 10 hotspots features in the tour and viewers can navigate and click on a hotspot to find out more. For example, clicking on the Defibrillator pops up an enlarged picture of the machine and tells the viewer what is it used for.
